2017: Join the Ride

The third annual Pumpkin Pedaler moved the starting grid downtown, and continued the mission to raise money and awareness for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Central Ohio. Some perennial favorites returned, and new hosts became favorites in 2017, taglined "Join the Ride." This year also made liberal use of the Lower Scioto Greenway to transition between stops.

The 2017 Pumpkin Pedaler began downtown at the Elevator Taproom and featured stops at Seventh Son Brewing, Sweet Carrot, Land-Grant Brewing, Das KaffeeHouse von Frau Burkhart, the North Market, and Pins Mechanical Co. Ninety riders, supported by over thirty volunteers (including our friends at the Autism Speaks Employment Program) helped gross over $3000 for Central Ohio autism programs. The 2017 Pumpkin Pedaler focused on transition services for young adults with ASD, from our volunteers to the Community Computer Alliance. The route was just over 16 miles, with a shortcut for less experienced riders that reduced the ride to 14 miles.

Prizes and Winners

Diane L. - Grand Prize Winner

GRAND PRIZE (Best Poker Hand): (Four Kings and Nine) "For the second year in a row, the Pumpkin Pedaler partnered with State Bicycle Company to hook up the winner with their choice of a Core Line model bicycle. The winner also received Daric Gill's third Pumpkin Pedaler themed mixed media piece, "Join the Ride." For 2017, Daric used a genuine wood sushi plate as the backdrop for his ToeHead artwork. And as always, the winner received a swag bag, courtesy of the Pumpkin Pedaler and our generous hosts."

Nic B. - Worst Poker Hand

Worst Poker Hand: (8-6-5-3-2) Congratulations, we think? 2017 brought a number of bad hands for some reason, but Nic's was the worst. The prize for the Worst Poker Hand category was a custom trophy designed by Zac Crow courtesy of Griffen Hollow Studio, as well as a swag bag from the Pumpkin Pedaler and our hosts. In our history, the highest card included in a Worst Poker Hand winner was a 10, drawn in 2015.

Bryan B. - Most Interesting Wheels

Most Interesting Wheels: For the third consecutive year, Bryan won the Most Interesting Wheels category in the Pumpkin Pedaler. This year, the prize package included a trophy courtesy of Zac Crow at Griffen Hollow Studio and a swag bag courtesy of the Pumpkin Pedaler and their gracious hosts. This prize category will be retired after the 2017 Pumpkin Pedaler.
